TL CORNFEST KIDS

RISING

STARS

Tiny humans, big talent. The next generation of water sports legends go head-to-head in a super final judged purely on vibes (and, you know, skill). Prepare to have your mind blown by kids half your size doing things you’d never attempt.

Format

  • Kids, ages 12 and under, compete in a subjectively judged, one-round final to showcase the next generation of towed water sports talent.

  • Skiers can perform either their favorite discipline or towed water sports activity. A few examples include: two ski, swivel ski, trick ski, jump, barefoot, kneeboard, wakeboard, shoe ski, disc, slalom ski or even tubing. Skiers are also allowed to use the jump.

Rules

  • Skiers can either perform a dock start or a deep water start. Judging begins when the ski line becomes tight.

  • Skiers will get two full passes. After the second full pass, skiers can either drop the rope and swim into shore or the boat can take the skier to the main stage for a pay-off in front of the crowd.

  • Skiers can fall once and will be picked up by a tow boat; if the skier falls a second time, they can either immediately swim to the stage or be picked up by a safety boat.

  • Skiers are encouraged to display and show good sportsmanship as well as engage the crowd during their run.

  • Athletes are able to use any towed water sports equipment they would like, but must provide their own gear, including their rope.

  • Skiers / parents are responsible for communicating boat speed, position and intended skier path (e.g., if you will be using the ramp) with the boat driver before leaving the dock.

  • All athletes must wear some form of flotation. If they plan to use the jump, head protection must be worn.

Judging Criteria

  • CREATIVITY - The judges will be looking for fun tricks and moves that captivate the audience.

  • FLOW - Sequencing your passes in a way that showcases skill and control will earn you more points.

  • DIFFICULTY - The more challenging the routine, the higher the score.

  • AUTHENTICITY & STOKE - We hope you’re having fun out there! Judges will score this category subjectively based on the execution of tricks with precision and personal style, as well as energy and crowd engagement.

Prizes

  • All participants will be entered into a raffle for the chance to win a premium prize.

Awards

  • All award winners will receive a medal + a Lake Lovers Club prize pack. Awards include:

    • MOST OUTSTANDING MALE SKIER - Recognizes a male athlete who demonstrates exceptional skill, dedication and performance in all aspects of water skiing.

    • MOST OUTSTANDING FEMALE SKIER - Recognizes a female athlete who demonstrates exceptional skill, dedication and performance in all aspects of water skiing.

    • SMOOTH STYLE - If you have the most unique stand-out style of the day on the water, our judges will recognize it and you will be crowned the Smooth Style award winner. Remember when it comes to style it’s not necessarily about difficulty, as smooth execution will be weighed the highest. Sometimes the gear you wear complements the actions you are performing. Keep that in mind because judges will be looking at both what you’re wearing and how you perform. It’s all about style across the board!

    • GOING THE DISTANCE - Did you jump the furthest? Did you stand-up both passes? Is it obvious you practiced for this moment on the water? All this will be considered to be in the running for this award.
