LD JUMP
Competitors take flight in a closest-to-the-pin, long-distance jump showdown.
It’s like darts—if the dart was a human flying through the air at 40 mph.
Format
Jumpers will compete in a one-round super final to see who can hit the target or land as close as possible to it.
The Landing Zone will be set between 100-125 feet from the jump.
The contest will be judged objectively by distance. If there is a tie, the winner will be determined by the style judging criteria.
Rules
Each skier gets three jump attempts.
Jump height will be set at 5.5 feet and will not be changed
Skiers will be pulled behind an event sponsored boat.
There is no jump switch.
There will be one dedicated boat driver for this contest and skiers may pick their own speed and boat path. Skiers are responsible for communicating boat / path settings with the driver prior to leaving the dock.
Jump distances will be determined objectively using measurement software and announced to the crowd following each jump.
All athletes must wear some form of flotation and head protection during their run. Vests, barefoot suits and jump suits are acceptable.
Judging Criteria
DISTANCE
Closest to the landing zone target wins outright, regardless of any points in the style category.
Distance will be judged based on where the jumper's boots land.
