The "GOF Invitational" is a freestyle water ski jump competition that is focused on creativity and style with divisions for Open Men’s, Open Women’s and Juniors (ages 14 and under).

Three judges will score based on the criteria below and balls will be anchored and monitored for jump distance.

Rules

  • Open Men’s and Open Women’s competitors get four attempts at the ramp, but only three will be scored. Juniors receive three attempts at the ramp, with all scored.

  • Each jump will be scored differently: one jump for Distance, one jump for Style and one Texas jump.

  • Even though each competitor's runs will be scored on three different aspects, there is no requirement to do three specific jumps tailored to each category. In other words, competitors can choose to focus on one aspect if they’d like for a shot at a Specialty Award.

  • What’s a Texas Jump? Jumps and kickers are meant to be hit in both directions. This jump will be executed with the boat driving on the opposite side of the ramp, compared to the norm. Therefore, the boat will approach the ramp on the left side, having the skier edge to the right to hit the ramp. Let’s normalize Texas jumping!

  • One or two skis is permitted, of any length or shape.

  • One 120-second ski change is permitted during each competitor's runs. The 120-second timer will start from the moment the skier is out of the water and on the platform of the boat. NO RESTING.

  • All athletes must wear some form of floatation and a helmet during their run. Vests, barefoot suits and jump suits are acceptable.

Scoring

Judging will be based around three different types of jumps, with each scored judged on different criteria. A standard Degree of Difficulty (DOD) chart will be used as the foundation for scoring across the jumps, with bonus points given based on performance in each category.

DISTANCE Jump

This speaks for itself — the greater the distance, the greater the bonus points.

STYLE Jump

The judges want to see your unique steeze, style and swag — i.e., grabs, shifties, tweaks, pokes, backwards landings, etc.

TEXAS Jump

Take on the ramp Texas style and you’ll be scoring bonus points.
