GOF
INIVITATIONAL
This isn’t just any jump contest—it’s a full-send freestyle jump battle where creativity, style and distance take center stage. The GOF Invitational brings out the boldest skiers to throw down the best tricks you wouldn’t normally see in a contest.
Format
The "GOF Invitational" is a freestyle water ski jump competition that is focused on creativity and style with divisions for Open Men’s, Open Women’s, and Juniors (ages 17 and under).
Competitors are judged on their ability to push the limits of freestyle jumping while executing unique and stylish maneuvers.
The contest is subjectively-judged based on the criteria below and balls will be anchored and monitored for jump distance.
Rules
Each competitor gets three attempts at the ramp – one jump off the launch ramp, one jump for style and one Texas jump. Skiers are required to do each type of jump.
The Launch Ramp Jump can be completed on any ski and at any speed. The kicker will be at its maximum height, which is approximately 6ft.
Jumps and kickers are meant to be hit in both directions. The Texas jump will be executed with the boat driving on the opposite side of the ramp, compared to the norm. Therefore, the boat will approach the ramp on the left side, having the skier edge to the right to hit the ramp.
One or two skis are permitted, of any length or shape.
One 120-second ski change is permitted during each competitor's runs. The 120-second timer will start from the moment the skier is out of the water and on the platform of the boat. NO RESTING.
All athletes must wear some form of flotation and head protection during their run. Vests, barefoot suits and jump suits are acceptable.
Judging Criteria
UNIQUENESS OF TRICKS & EXECUTION - Judges will be looking for a variety of personal style, spins and flips. Tricks that are executed with control and precision will be scored higher than those with wobbly landings.
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY - The more challenging the trick, the higher the score.
CREATIVITY - This isn’t your average jump contest. Judges will be looking for fun, outside-the-box tricks that captivate the audience and aren’t typically seen in contests.
STYLE - The judges want to see your unique steeze, style and swag — i.e., grabs, shifties, tweaks, pokes, backwards landings, etc.
Approaching cut at the ramp: angle, speed and body position.
On the ramp: control, body position and take off.
In the air: aerial maneuvers, body position and hang-time.
AUTHENTICITY & STOKE - We hope you’re having fun out there! Judges will score this category subjectively based on the execution of tricks with precision and personal style, as well as energy and crowd engagement.
Awards
First place, from each division, will receive an exclusive TL CornFest Champions jacket.
All Top 3 rankings will receive a medal + a Lake Lovers Club prize pack.
